If i am part of Microsoft.. my response wud be...
"We did test that product. And we would like to let you know that there is no fault but a feature... We do not want that product to be bulky, so we made it detachable.
It's the players fault to use it without reading the user guide
We have a product in line where we use Fevicol to attach the two peices for advanced users..."

Just a bit of imagination::
I place Bill Gates in the shoes of the Tennis Guy & see him marketing your detachable product, while it accidently falls apart. Gates remarks - "That must be why we are not lifting the cup over our shoulders !!".. His colleague backs him up - "Absolutely, Absolutely !!"
